I make my living as a UX designer. I was trained to use my visual abilities to provide structure and clarity by making the complex simple and bringing order to chaos. In a way, I enable and provide control to those that who interact with the products I help create. 

With my art, I try to achieve the exact opposite. There is never a goal, never an expectation of the outcomes. I use my tools —a  blank canvas, colors and brushes, shapes, and patterns, and textures — to reflect scenes from everyday life.

My inspiration has always been nature and its powerful ability to destroy and deconstruct. Interestingly enough, I have found that by not trying to control the outcome, my pieces are reflections of that. 

To the viewer this might be an initial impression of seeing rotten wood, moss, corrosion or fungi on a rock. To me it is a way to give recognition to life and the inevitability of its loss, to give recognition to Imperfections imperfections and then come to the realization that there are none.

The most complex and intriguing patterns, color combinations, shapes and textures exist in the smallest and most hidden organism on this planet. It takes curiosity and patience to find and appreciate them.”

Society’s distractions have made us less likely to really see, less likely to investigate life closely. If you slow down, you will be rewarded. Clouds become faces or animals, trees may become a meeting of towering elders. Be investigative! The universe - life - is in constant flux, everything shifts, renews or becomes entirely something else.

Even though I name all my pieces, I want them to be platforms for discovery. To me, it may be an enchanted forrest or the roots of an old tree, to you it may call out something else. I encourage the viewer to make up their own story, let their mind interact with what they see and experience something new with every glance.

In everyday life, I run and own Busse Design USA, Inc. an Oakland based, full-service user experience design firm, specializing in Web and device applications, and responsive websites.
